The Communication and Journalism Educators’ Network (CJEN) Bangladesh, in collaboration with the Fojo Media Institute, has announced the successful applicants selected under the open call for the “Closing the Climate Coverage Gap” initiative.

The selected participants, representing leading journalism and communication programs across Bangladesh, are:

• Sahibur Rahman, Begum Rokeya University Rangpur
• Mehnaz Hoque, Jagannath University
• Sarkar Barbaq Quarmal, University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh
• Emran Hossain, University of Barishal

The initiative is part of the AGILE Journalism Education Initiative, which aims to strengthen journalism education globally. Through this program, selected educators will collaborate to co-design and implement an extracurricular course on climate reporting, equipping students with the skills to cover climate issues effectively and produce impactful stories.

The project will begin with a co-design phase, followed by the local implementation of the course at participating universities. It also includes a Climate Publishing Project, where students will develop and publish climate-related stories under mentorship.

CJEN Bangladesh and Fojo Media Institute congratulate the successful applicants and look forward to working closely with them to strengthen climate journalism education and contribute to more informed public discourse on climate change.
