Preparatory Meetings Held for 10th CJEN Networking Conference

The Communication and Journalism Educators’ Network (CJEN), in collaboration with Deutsche Welle (DW) Akademie, has begun preparations for its 10th Networking Conference, which will be hosted by the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) on October 24 and 25, 2025.

Two preparatory meetings have been held to lay the groundwork for this landmark event. The first meeting took place online on April 28, 2025, and the second was held in person at the AIUB campus on May 7, 2025.

Attending from AIUB were:

  • Prof. Dr. Saiful Islam, Vice Chancellor
  • Prof. Dr. Abdur Rahman, Pro-Vice Chancellor
  • Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, Former Vice Chancellor and Advisor
  • Prof. Dr. Manzur Khan, Academic Administrator
  • Ms. Rani Ramos, Senior Staff Member

Representing CJEN and DW Akademie were:

  • Prof. Dr. Jude William Genilo, Founding Convener of CJEN
  • Ms. Jimi Amir, Country Coordinator, DW Akademie Bangladesh
  • Mr. Istiaq Muhit, Project Officer, DW Akademie Bangladesh
  • Ms. Priya Esselborn, Project Manager, DW Akademie Germany (attended the online meeting)

The meetings focused on defining the conference theme, setting the agenda, and reviewing logistical and academic preparations. Discussions emphasized CJEN’s continued commitment to advancing journalism and communication education, promoting freedom of expression, and enhancing collaboration across educational institutions in Bangladesh.

With the 10th edition of the conference scheduled for October, CJEN and AIUB aim to make this year’s gathering a significant platform for dialogue, innovation, and policy shaping in the rapidly evolving media and communication landscape. Further details about the theme and call for participation will be released in the coming weeks.
