IUB Selected to Host 11th CJEN Conference

The Communication and Journalism Educators’ Network (CJEN) is pleased to announce that the Department of Media and Communication of Independent University, Bangladesh has been selected to host the 11th CJEN Conference, scheduled for October or November 2026.  The decision was formally communicated to Imran Ferdous, Head of the Department of Media and Communication at IUB, through a letter from Priya Esselborn, Project Lead, South and Southeast Asia, DW Akademie on 15 June 2026.

In her letter, Esselborn noted that following a review of the submitted proposals, IUB was selected as the host institution for the next annual CJEN conference. She expressed appreciation for the time and effort invested in preparing the application and conveyed confidence that the university would provide an excellent environment for a productive and successful event. The selection follows a competitive call for proposals issued by CJEN Bangladesh and DW Akademie, inviting academic institutions to host the network’s eleventh annual conference. The call encouraged proposals that demonstrated strong institutional commitment, organizational capacity, innovative conference themes, financial sustainability, and the ability to facilitate meaningful discussions on contemporary issues in communication and journalism education.

CJEN congratulates IUB on its successful bid and looks forward to working closely with the university in planning and organizing the conference. The event is expected to bring together communication and journalism educators, researchers, media professionals, and development partners from across Bangladesh to exchange ideas, share research, and strengthen collaboration in the field. Established in 2018 with the support of DW Akademie, CJEN serves as a platform for knowledge co-creation and faculty development among communication and journalism educators in Bangladesh. The network aims to promote excellence in media education, foster collaboration among academic institutions, and contribute to the development of a vibrant and responsible media ecosystem. Further details regarding the conference theme, call for papers, and participation opportunities will be announced in the coming months.
