The Communication and Journalism Educators’ Network (CJEN) Bangladesh organized a Regional Cluster Meeting at the University of Rajshahi on 13 September 2026, bringing together faculty members and students from three universities in the region—University of Rajshahi, Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur, and Varendra University.
The meeting was organized by the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, University of Rajshahi, with support from DW Akademie and CJEN Bangladesh. The event aimed to strengthen connections among communication and journalism educators and students in the region while providing opportunities for professional development, academic exchange, and research capacity building.
The programme began with a welcome address by Dr. Md. Mozammel Hossain Bokul, Professor and Chairman of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, University of Rajshahi. This was followed by an introduction to CJEN by Jude William Genilo, Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Liberal Arts, Bangladesh and Chair of the Executive Committee of CJEN Bangladesh.
A major focus of the meeting was strengthening participants’ research and academic writing skills. Mamun Abdul Kaioum, Associate Professor of Mass Communication and Journalism at the University of Rajshahi, conducted a session on abstract development. This was followed by a practical abstract-writing session in which participants developed their own abstracts, facilitated by Md. Mashihur Rahman, Professor of Mass Communication and Journalism at the University of Rajshahi.
The meeting also featured remarks from Naziat Hossain Chowdhury, Professor of Mass Communication and Journalism at the University of Rajshahi and a member of the CJEN Executive Committee. The programme concluded with remarks from Jimi Amir, Project Manager and Coordinator of DW Akademie Dhaka. Amena Khatun, Associate Professor of Mass Communication and Journalism at the University of Rajshahi, served as the moderator.
The participation of faculty members and students from the University of Rajshahi, Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur, and Varendra University highlighted the importance of building stronger regional networks among communication and journalism educators. The meeting provided a platform for participants to exchange ideas, develop research competencies, and explore opportunities for greater academic collaboration.
The Rajshahi Regional Cluster Meeting is part of CJEN Bangladesh’s continuing efforts to strengthen professional networks across the country and create opportunities for communication and journalism educators and students to engage in research, training, knowledge sharing, and collaborative initiatives.
