CJEN Holds Orientation for New Executive Committee

The Communication and Journalism Educators’ Network (CJEN) successfully held its Executive Committee Orientation Meeting on 16 April 2026 at Al Amar, Gulshan, Dhaka, marking a significant step in strengthening collaboration among journalism and communication educators across Bangladesh. The meeting opened with a session on Welcome and Introductions, allowing Executive Committee members to connect and share their institutional affiliations and areas of expertise. This was followed by an Orientation on CJEN and the role of the Executive Committee, where the network’s vision, mission, and strategic priorities were presented and discussed.
A key highlight of the meeting was the deliberation on the Action Plan for 2026, where members collectively identified priority areas, including curriculum development, research collaboration, and capacity-building initiatives. The committee also discussed initial plans for the CJEN Annual Conference, focusing on themes, partnerships, and opportunities for broader engagement within the academic and professional community. In addition, members explored prospects for membership in the World Journalism Education Council (WJEC), recognizing its importance in connecting CJEN to global standards and networks in journalism education.
The session was attended by Priya Esselborn, Project Manager Bangladesh at DW Akademie, whose presence underscored the value of international collaboration in strengthening media development and education initiatives in the country. The orientation concluded with a strong sense of shared purpose and commitment among Executive Committee members to work collaboratively in advancing quality, ethical, and inclusive media, journalism, and communication education in Bangladesh.
