The Communication and Journalism Educators’ Network (CJEN) has formally introduced its Executive Committee for the 2026–2028 term, showcasing a diverse and nationally representative body of educators committed to advancing media, journalism, and communication studies in Bangladesh.
The newly constituted Executive Committee is composed of 31 members, drawn from a wide range of universities across the country. Of these, 19 members are from private universities and 12 from public universities, reflecting a strong balance between the two major pillars of higher education in Bangladesh.
Geographically, the composition highlights both central and regional representation. Exactly 18 members are based in Dhaka, while 13 members come from institutions outside the capital, including universities in Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal, Comilla, and Chittagong. This distribution ensures that perspectives from across the country are incorporated into CJEN’s initiatives and decision-making processes. The Executive Committee also reflects encouraging gender diversity, with 12 female and 19 male members, demonstrating a growing inclusion of women in leadership roles within journalism and communication education.
In terms of academic experience, the committee brings together a dynamic mix of senior and junior faculty members. Senior professors and established scholars contribute leadership, institutional knowledge, and policy direction, while early- and mid-career academics bring fresh perspectives, innovation, and energy to the network’s activities.
This diverse composition strengthens CJEN’s capacity to address key challenges in media education, including curriculum development, ethical journalism, digital transformation, and combating misinformation. By bridging institutional, regional, and generational divides, the Executive Committee is well-positioned to promote inclusive, high-quality, and future-oriented education in media, journalism, and communication studies in Bangladesh. Through this collective leadership, CJEN aims to play a pivotal role in shaping responsible communicators and journalists who can contribute to a more informed and democratic society.
