The Fojo Media Institute at Linnaeus University, Sweden, in partnership with the Communication and Journalism Education Network (CJEN) Bangladesh, has announced the selection of four universities for the Women Media Leaders of Tomorrow (WMLT) Initiative (Second Round) under the EU-funded AGILE Programme.
The announcement was made on 23 March 2026, following a competitive review process that received 13 applications from media, communication, and journalism departments across Bangladesh.
The selected universities and focal faculty members are:
- University of Dhaka – Kajalie Shehreen Islam
- University of Rajshahi – Naziat Choudhury
- Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) – Dilshad Hossain Dodul
- University of Barishal – Md. Forhad Uddin
The selected institutions will participate in the WMLT initiative, which aims to prepare final-year female journalism students for future leadership roles in the media industry. The programme includes a hands-on leadership and management course, to be delivered in Spring 2026, along with mentorship, certification from Fojo Media Institute/Linnaeus University, and access to an international alumni network.
Each participating university will receive a grant to support the implementation of the programme and will nominate a cohort of final-year female students to take part in the training.
The selection reflects a strong commitment among Bangladeshi universities to advancing gender-inclusive journalism education and fostering the next generation of women media leaders.
The WMLT initiative is part of the AGILE Programme (2025–2028), a global consortium supported by the European Union to strengthen independent journalism worldwide. Fojo Media Institute leads the workstream on The Future of Journalism.
