Chittagong University and Daffodil International University (DIU) have been chosen as the two Bangladeshi recipients of the Women Media Leaders of Tomorrow (WMLT) initiative, a groundbreaking program aimed at equipping female journalism students with leadership skills for the media sector. The initiative is organized by Fojo Media Institute at Linnaeus University in Sweden, in partnership with the Communication and Journalism Education Network (CJEN) in Bangladesh, under the EU-funded AGILE programme.
The WMLT initiative is designed to prepare women journalism students for future leadership roles in newsrooms and media organizations. Selected students will participate in an international course that includes:
- In-person sessions on 27–29 October 2025 featuring lectures by global industry experts and women leaders in media,
- Study visits to leading media outlets in Bangladesh, and
- Certificates of completion awarded by Linnaeus University, Sweden.
Each participating university will nominate 10 final-year female journalism students to take part in the program, providing them with exposure, mentorship, and opportunities to build leadership capacity in media. This initiative underscores the growing commitment to gender equity in journalism education and aims to create a pipeline of future women leaders in Bangladesh’s media landscape.
