AGILE Workshop on Investigative Journalism Organized

Fojo Media Institute and Communication and Journalism Educators’ Network (CJEN) Bangladesh successfully organized a two-day workshop titled “AGILE: Dig Deeper Investigative Journalism for Female Students” on 17–18 July 2026 at CCULB Resort, Purbachal, Dhaka. The workshop brought together journalism educators from different universities to collaboratively develop approaches for strengthening investigative journalism training for female students.

Facilitated by Jude William Genilo and Jesmin Papri, the workshop was attended by representatives from Comilla University, State University of Bangladesh, and Daffodil International University. Participants engaged in discussions, reflections, and curriculum co-design activities aimed at enhancing investigative journalism education in Bangladesh. The first day focused on foundational concepts and challenges in investigative journalism. Participants attended sessions led by Tasneem Khalil, who discussed sourcing, information gathering, and verification techniques, and by Zyma Islam, who addressed issues of gender, power, ethics, and safety in investigative journalism. The day also featured reflections and discussions facilitated by Lulu Brenda Harris, National University of Science and Technology, Zimbabwe.

On the second day, participants reviewed the investigative journalism course framework that had been developed during a co-design meeting in Sri Lanka in March 2026 and explored strategies for implementing the course within their respective universities. Through group work and collaborative discussions, participants contributed ideas for contextualizing the curriculum to the Bangladeshi higher education environment. The workshop concluded with participant presentations, feedback sessions, and discussions on the next phase of the AGILE initiative. The program introduced a budget template and outlined plans for Phase 2, which would focus on student-led investigative journalism projects.
