The Communication and Journalism Educators’ Network (CJEN) Bangladesh, in partnership with the Department of Media and Communication at Independent University, Bangladesh and Deutsche Welle Akademie, has announced the Call for Papers for the 11th Annual CJEN Bangladesh Conference 2026, which will be held on 27–28 November 2026 at the IUB campus in Bashundhara, Dhaka. The conference will be conducted entirely in person and is expected to bring together academics, researchers, journalists, media educators, and graduate students from across Bangladesh and beyond.
This year’s conference theme, “Media Education in Transition: Navigating AI, Disinformation, and the Future of Journalism in Bangladesh,” reflects the rapid transformations reshaping the media landscape and journalism education. The conference aims to provide a platform for critical discussions on artificial intelligence, platform governance, media literacy, ethical journalism, and the evolving role of communication education in a digital society.
The organizers are inviting submissions on a wide range of topics, including AI and automation in journalism education, disinformation and verification pedagogy, data journalism, curriculum innovation, development communication, media ethics, gender and diversity, digital platforms, research methodologies, and South–South knowledge exchange. Prospective presenters are required to submit a 250-word extended abstract outlining the research problem, methodology, and key findings, along with a 100-word author biography. Submissions should be sent to conference.cmn@iub.edu.bd.
The conference timeline includes abstract submission deadline of 20 September 2026, notification of acceptance on 10 October 2026, full paper submission by 10 November 2026, and registration by 18 November 2026. Selected participants travelling from outside the Dhaka metropolitan area and affiliated with academic institutions may apply for travel support. The conference will not host virtual presentations, reinforcing its commitment to fostering in-person scholarly engagement and networking.
According to the organizers, the conference seeks to advance scholarly dialogue on the future of media and journalism education while strengthening collaboration among communication and journalism educators, researchers, and practitioners in Bangladesh and the wider region.
